The gross harvest of sunflower in Türkiye in the season 2023/24, according to the second estimate of the Turkish Statistical Institute TURKSTAT, may reach about 2.2 million tons, which is 400 thousand tons lower than the previous forecast of experts. The current oilseed production in the country is also 14% below the level of the previous agricultural year. In addition, soybean production in the region is expected to be 11% lower than the final result of MY 2022/23 – 137.5 thousand tons.
As for cereals, the estimate for these crops increased by 2 million tons compared to the previously announced figure – up to 41.5 million tons, which is also 7% higher than the result of the previous season.
Most noticeably, the experts adjusted the forecast for wheat: by 1.3 million tons to 21.8 million tons (+10% per year). For barley there was an increase by 0.4 million tons, up to 9 million tons (+6%).
