On December 22, the Ministry of Restoration of Ukraine, in collaboration with the recently appointed leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland, reached a consensus on a comprehensive action plan aimed at resolving the border blockade. Apkinform reports according to the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry.
“The key result of the meeting is the agreement of joint positions for unblocking the border. The parties reached an understanding regarding compromise solutions and their implementation. The next stage is negotiations at the level of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland and the protesters” the message states.
At the same time, the Ministry of Restoration underscored that discussions did not include any considerations regarding alterations to the existing Agreement with the European Union on the liberalization of freight transportation.
Later, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland announced that from December 24, Polish farmers are suspending the blocking of traffic for trucks near the “Medyka-Shegyny” checkpoint until January 2-3. On December 24, the State Border Service of Ukraine confirmed the fact that the blocking of the specified checkpoint was stopped.
However, the organizers of the blockade at the other three border crossing points said that they currently have no plans to stop or end the protest.
