Ukraine Is Loading Wheat Actively Through Seaports: Price Hike on the Horizon?

Spread the news!

Shipments of wheat from Ukraine for export are increasing. For December 2023 Ukrainian exporters have already contracted around 1.2 million tons. 100 000 tons of this volume have already been loaded during first 5 days of the month. Experts forecast that Ukraine can reach an export level of 1.3 to 1.5 million tons in December and in January. It will be the result of the efficient operation of seaports and significant demand for wheat on the world market.

Wheat from Ukraine with a protein content of 10.5% is in demand in Asian markets, where prices remain competitive. The purchasing price there is 275-278 USD/t or 255-258 EUR/t from buyers in Bangladesh, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Currently, the wheat trade in the Danube ports has practically stopped. Purchasing prices in Odesa sea ports are now at the level 145-150 USD/t or 130-139 EUR/t for feed wheat and over 170 USD/t or 158 EUR/t for milling.

According to expectations, during December and January, wheat prices may increase. The CPT prices in Odesa will increase by 3-5 USD/T dollars already this week.

From December 25, the world goes into the New Year holidays, which leads to excitement in many markets. Traders will actively buy grain until December 20, avoiding the pre-holiday rise in prices.
