Ukraine Is Successfully Fighting the Shadow Grain Export

Spread the news!

In August 2023, the Ukrainian government introduced new export rules. They required exporters to confirm the origin of goods before the vessel leaves Ukraine, not after.

From now on, all customs declarations are registered before export goods are loaded. So it is almost impossible to export grain bought for cash from an anonymous farmer. The vast majority of players on the market didn’t like it, and some still don’t. But legal companies took these changes positively.

In the current conditions, exporters of grain products have many obstacles in their work. Among other things, we are talking about the functioning of the grain corridor, the limited number of grain storage warehouses and transshipment places, the constant shelling of Ukrainian ports, the insurance of vessels with military risks, the delay of railway wagons on the way to the ports.

In addition to all these force majeure circumstances, the work of legal companies was complicated by “shadow” grain producers.

At the beginning, it was difficult to adapt: documents processing could take up to seven days. However, receintly the procedure became easier and currently exporters can receive documents within a few hours.
