Ukraine Millet: Since 2017 the export of millet from Ukraine has grown 7 times

ODESA: According to APK-Inform news agency, Ukraine has increased the shipments of millet to foreign markets by seven times over the past four seasons.

Thus, in 2017/18 MY, the grain export amounted to 26.3 thousand tons. Then by the end of the season 2020/21, it reached a historical maximum of 181.4 thousand tons.

Indonesia, Poland and Germany were the key importers of Ukrainian millet in 2020/21 MY – their total share in total exports amounted to 35%. At the same time, Indonesia increased grain purchases compared to 2017/18 MY 169 times – from 245 tons to 41.6 thousand tons. Poland – 3 times, from 3.4 thousand to 11.4 thousand tons.  Germany – 4 times, from 2.9 thousand to 10.3 thousand tons.

According to the agency’s analysts, this year, millet production in Ukraine will reduce by 34% – from 256.1 thousand to 167.8 thousand tons. The export in the current season can reach 85 thousand tons. This is 53% less than the record shipments of the previous MG.

In particular, a decrease in the export rate of culture is recorded already at the start of 2021/22 MY. This season purchasing prices for millets are slowly going up and by December reached the level of 265-275 $/t in main ports.
