Ukraine’s Grain and Leguminous Exports Rise by 3.7% in 2023/2024 Season

The stock of agricultural products in the country totaled 44.6 million tons at the end of the second half of 2023, according to the Stock Survey released on Thursday, 13th, by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Compared to the same period in 2022, there was an increase of 13.2%.

There was an expansion in corn (15.8%) and soybean (39.6%) stocks, but a reduction in wheat (13.3%). “Product stocks were directly related to the 2023 harvest, a record in soybean and corn production, provided larger stocks and the drop in wheat production, due to weather problems, reduced stocks,” explained IBGE in the report.

The number of active establishments was 9,102 locations, an increase of 4.8% compared to the first half of 2023. Mato Grosso has the largest storage capacity in the country, with 55.5 million tons, 58.9% of which are of the type bulk carriers and 35.9% of the silo type.

As for storable useful capacity, silos totaled 110 million tons in the second half of 2023, which represents 52.2% of total useful capacity. Compared to the first half of 2023, silo capacity grew 4.6%.

Bulk and bulk warehouses reached 77.8 million tons of useful storable capacity, 36.9% of all national storage. There was a 6.3% expansion in capacity compared to the previous semester.

Conventional, structural and inflatable warehouses totaled 23.1 million tons, a share of 10.9% of the country’s total capacity. The result represented an increase of 0.2% compared to the first half of 2023.
