Ukrainian Export of Agro Products Fell by 40% After the Russian Invasion

ODESA: The export of agro products in January-June of this year amounted to $10.11 billion, which is $703 million or almost 7% less than the corresponding indicator of the first half of 2021.

As noted, the main decline in the volume of domestic exports began in March — after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. During March-June 2021 Ukrainian agricultural exports amounted to $7.47 billion, then in the corresponding period of 2022, it decreased by more than 40% to $4.43 billion.

Agricultural and food industry products will continue to dominate the structure of total exports — their share has exceeded 44% in six months of the current year.

At the same time, the decrease in agricultural imports to Ukraine was more noticeable. In January-June 2022, agro-food products worth $2.77 billion were purchased abroad, i.e. 24% less than in the corresponding period of 2021.
