Ukraine exported almost 10% more grain this season

According to the Ukrainian Grain Association, in season 2022/2023, Ukraine exported a total of 58.5 million tons of agricultural crops. This is 9.1% higher than last season, when 53.6 million tons were exported. Every season runs from July 1 to June 31. Also It should be mentioned, that the total harvest of key agricultural crops in 2022/2023 amounted to 73.8 million tons, or 30.6% less than the pre-war 106.4 million tons.

In terms of crops, the situation with exports in the current season looks as follows:

wheat – 17 million tons (+9.2% compared to previous season);
corn – 29.5 million tons (+25.5%);
barley – 2.7 million tons (2.12 times less);
rapeseed – 3.4 million tons (+26%);
sunflower seeds – 2.25 million tons (2.13 times more);
soybeans – 3.3 million tons (3 times more).

In addition, in the current season, Ukraine produced 11.9 million tons of sunflower oil (+19% compared to last season), as well as 1.3 million tons of soybean oil (-13.3%).

Season 2023/2023 forecast

The Grain Association also announced forecasts for the next season 2023/2024. The total harvest will decrease by 6.3% – to 69.1 million tons. While exports will decrease by almost a quarter (23.4%) – to 44.8 million tons.

The harvest of the main agricultural crops in Ukraine in 2022/2023 due to the Russian military invasion and the temporary occupation of some territories decreased to the level of 2014/2015 – 69.1 million tons against 69.3 million tons.
