Despite the decrease in sunflower oil prices, the need to replenish the raw material base and increased competition with exporters forced processors to raise their purchasing prices.
According to APK-Inform, prices in the Ukrainian market of sunflower rose to levels from which they began to decline in early December.
As of December 27, the demand prices of processing enterprises increased to 13,500-14,000 UAH/t CPT basis. But they often reached 14,500 UAH/t or 343 EUR/t in the western and southern regions under the same conditions.
At the same time, the companies noted that the decrease in prices, which preceded the increase, significantly reduced the supply of oil on the market. And even the recovery of upward price dynamics has not yet contributed to significant growth. Farmers continued to restrain sales, expecting an increase in demand and prices after the recovery of sunflower exports to Bulgaria.
It is worth noting that the establishment of the export of Ukrainian sunflower seeds to Bulgaria is still in the process. It will be possible no earlier than January after approval of the licenses for which applications have already been submitted.
