The United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has announced a $25 million aid plan for 900,000 people living in rural areas in all 10 provinces of Turkey following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
In a statement released by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) headquartered in Rome, it was stated that the earthquake disaster that occurred on February 6 caused great destruction in Turkey and Syria, and that FAO has expanded its operations in line with the needs of the rural areas affected by the earthquake in these countries.
25 million dollars needed for 900,000 people
“As part of the UN’s ‘Turkey Emergency Appeal’, FAO needs $25 million over the next three months for 900,000 rural residents in all 10 affected provinces, including emergency livelihood support and unconditional cash transfers,” the statement said.
FAO also reported that as part of the UN’s emergency appeal for Syria, it needs 10 million dollars for agricultural support for 300,000 people living in rural areas over the next three months.
