Vehicle checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border may be closed until the end of the year. On October 30, the association “Ukravtoprom” reported on its Telegram channel with reference to the information of the International Transport Association of Ukraine.
“From November, Polish carriers plan to start a strike at the Ukrainian border. If earlier they were limited to one checkpoint, now they plan to block all existing entrances from Ukraine. The action is planned for a period of two months,” the message says.
The first meeting of participants has already been agreed with the local authorities near the Korchov checkpoint on November 3.
“The reason for the strikes is excessive competition after the liberalization of international transportation between Ukraine and EU countries,” the association noted.
Polish carriers demand, in particular:
- return of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers;
- strengthening of transport rules for foreign carriers under the ECMT;
- a separate queue in the E-queue for cars with EU license plates;
- a separate queue at all borders for empty trucks.
