According to the results of trading on June 6, wheat quotations on the CBOT exchange up to a three-week high – $230.6 (+$1.3) per tonne in response to the destruction of the Kakhovska HPP on the Dnipro River in Ukraine as a result of a terrorist act committed by the Russian Federation. This situation strengthened concerns about the escalation of war between countries.
On the Euronext exchange, wheat quotations did not significantly change, and according to the results of the trading was EUR 230.25 (-0.25) per tonne. The main influence on prices was exerted by high competition from Russian wheat at the Egyptian tender. At the same time, the dam’s collapse has added to supply worries about the possible emergence of logistical problems in the country, which might negatively affect the Ukrainian wheat deliveries, while dry weather in Europe threatens the harvest.
