World biodiesel production in 2023 can grow up to 56,2 million tons – by 8% or 4 million tons more than last year. This forecast was announced by specialists of the Hamburg-based analytical agency OilWorld (Germany). The experts say the main growth will take place in the USA where the output of ecofuel will reach a record 12.5 mln tons (+2.3 mln tons by 2022).
In addition, experts explain that an increase in production indicators should be expected in Indonesia, as this year the country began to operate a new mandate to blend B35 (35% of palm oil instead of the previous 30%).
According to preliminary estimates, the world consumption of palm oil in biodiesel production will increase by 1.6 mln tons up to 20.3 mln tons in 2023, mainly due to Indonesia. A similar situation awaits soybean oil, the use of which may increase by 0.6 million tons, to 12.8 million tons.
Note that biodiesel production based on palm oil is actively developing in South-East Asia, based on soybean oil in North and South America, and based on rapeseed oil in the European Union. Sunflower oil is practically not used for these purposes.
