Groundnut is one of the most important food and cash crops of India, accounting for more than 40% of area under oilseeds and 60% of oil seed production. China leads production followed by India, Nigeria, and the USA. Indonesia is a leading exporter. India is the second largest producer of groundnut after China.
Production:
Major peanut producing states in India are Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,
Maharashtra, Rajasthan, M.P., Orissa and U.P.
Andhra Pradesh is one of the very important states for peanut production in India, this year production is expected to be around 31% less compared to previous year by the state government. According to the agricultural department, approximate estimates are 5.35 million metric ton which was 7.74 million metric ton last year.
The country has exported 638,582.97 MT of groundnuts to the world for the worth of 727.40 USD Millions during the year 2020-21.
Major Export Destinations (2020-21) : Indonesia, Vietnam Soc Rep, China P Rp, Philippines, Malaysia.
Current Scenario:
In some of the villages of (Gujarat) groundnut demand is there for sowing purposes which has helped the market to stay stable. This year Peanut production is less and demand in the international market is also less, therefore average prices are low.
Arrivals :
Total arrivals of the week is 13368.61 tonnes and the maximum was from Gujarat –6074.26 tonnes.
Future Estimates :
As per current scenario there are no movements in the peanut market. According to experts, in the coming days there are no expectations of high demand in the export market.
