Foreign media news on December 9: The National Commodity Supply Company (CONAB) under the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture stated that as of December 4, the soybean planting progress in Brazil in 2021/22 reached 95.1%, an increase of 3.6% from a week ago and compared with the previous year. It was 4.9% higher over the same period.
CONAB monitors the sowing situation in the country’s 12 central producing states. These areas account for 97% of the country’s soybean sown area. They are Tocantins, Maranhao, Piauí, Bahia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goias, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
Soybean planting is completed in seven states, and the planting progress varies from 97% to 100%. The planting progress in the Rio Grande do Sul and Maranhão is slower, at 80% and 65%, respectively. In its monthly report released on Thursday, CONAB predicts that Brazil’s soybean production in 2021/22 will reach a record of 142.79 million tons, which is about 800,000 tons or 0.5% higher than the November forecast and 4% higher than the 2020 output.
