Dried Figs: Will Extreme Cold Cause Yield Loss?

Spread the news!

Market players stated that the fig trees located in the high altitude areas of the Aydın region might be slightly affected by the extremely cold weather conditions in the last two weeks, and the yield may be affected somewhat. Still, it is too early yet to make firm statements about the progress of the new growing season. Furthermore, it has been stated that there is not much activity in the markets and that the raw material prices remained the same. It is also noted that the beginning of the month of Ramadan may slow down the work slightly.

The Turkish lira remained almost at the same level as last week and noted today the Usd/TL rate at 14.84 TL (14.82 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 16.28 TL levels (16.38 last week).

Turkey exported 1192 mt of dried figs and figs products last week, being 1149 mt during the same week of the previous year. The total exports range at 45.969 mt, being 48.382 mt total in the same period of the last year
