As the seedless Sultaniye grape harvest started in Turkey, which entered this week with slightly cooler weather, the collected grapes started to be dried in the exhibition areas established in the Manisa Plain.
Sales in raisins are calm due to the expectation of new products. Producers are eagerly awaiting the announcement of seedless raisin prices, by taking into account inflation and rising costs. Prices will be announced by Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 20 August.
Manufacturers are right to want inflation and rising costs to be taken into account, as 90% of the country is in trouble over by price hikes of up to 200% on everything from soup to nuts. Although Turkish citizens have doubts about the announced inflation data, TUIK announced the inflation data for July as 79.6% on an annual basis. Thus, a 24-year record was broken in inflation in the country.
The value of the Dollar and Euro remained almost the same as last week against the Turkish Lira. The Usd/TL rate at 17,96 TL (17,96 last week) and Euro/TL rate is at 18,24 TL levels (18,32 last week).
Currently, in the stagnant market due to waiting for new crops exporters are offering the same as last week for the 2021 crop at 1.400-1.450 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for type nr.8 and 1.500-1.550 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for type nr.9.
