Xinjiang – This week, the Xinjiang sunflower kernel market showed a terrible availability of raw material. Imports dominated the trading, but the downstream demand was not much. Manufacturers were cautious in purchasing.
The price of imported Ukrainian bakery sunflower kernels is around USD 1330 /ton this week. Exporters are eager to sell, but exports are poor. For this reason, the price of Chinese bakery sunflower kernels has dropped from USD 1570 /ton last week to USD1520 /ton this week.
Market participants predict that the price of Chinese sunflower kernels will continue to decrease. Domestic confectionary grade sunflower kernels also saw a drop, from $1520 /ton last week to $1480 /ton this week.
Despite the price drop, the crazy sea freight prices led to an increase in importers’ costs. Also, the exporters complain about the sea freight prices. Because of the high prices, their orders are small, hoping the situation will improve soon.
