Turkish Grain Board (TMO) started importing with the end of the harvest. TMO, which started the first import with barley after the harvest, announced on October 11 that it will hold a tender for 500 thousand tons of barley import.
TMO pressed the button with barley for the first import after harvest. With the import tender to be held on October 11, TMO will import 500 thousand tons of barley. While it is estimated that TMO bought 1 million tons of barley from the producer during the harvesting process, it is noteworthy that 500 thousand tons of barley will be imported.
TMO is aiming to strength safety stocks by importing barley
In the statement of TMO, they are starting to import barley to maintain domestic market stability.
“Considering the developing conditions in the world; strengthening TMO stocks until the new season is important in terms of protecting our consumers by maintaining domestic market stability and feed regulation. For this reason, in order to strengthen our safety stocks, approximately 500 thousand tons of barley feed was tendered.”
