According to the forecasts of Anec experts, by the end of 2023, Brazil will export record volumes of soybeans and corn, which will be primarily due to high yields of these crops and strong demand from China, Nasdaq reports.
According to Sergio Mendes, the director of Anec, for the first time the records of soybean and corn exports from Brazil will be reached simultaneously. At the same time, soybean shipments in 2023 may increase by 14 mln tons per year, and corn – by 11 mln tons.
In particular, Brazilian corn exports are expected to reach 55.95 mln tonnes by the end of the year, up 25% from 2022, and will be a record, despite logistical problems caused by severe drought, which slowed down grain transportation along the routes in the north of the country in the fourth quarter of this year.
Navigation on some Amazon tributaries, often difficult during the dry season, has been particularly challenging this year, threatening the northern export routes that have driven Brazil’s export competitiveness in recent years.
