Dried figs, which were active in the Turkish domestic market before Ramadan, are currently a little more stable. Exports, on the other hand, continue as normal. Raw materials are getting harder to find every week, while export prices are increasing. Exporters can keep prices valid for only 1 week. High prices have caused some country markets to disappear in the middle of the season.
Exports to countries such as Serbia became impossible, and even the price of second quality products remains high. However, exporters to countries that use quality products, such as Spain, can export, although not as much as before. Of course, at high prices, but the exporter can only supply the product to his contract customers with very little profit.
It seems like prices will continue to rise in the coming weeks. That’s why companies are trying to buy their stocks from farmers. There is no damage to the new season crop for now, but situations may change in case of drought in the coming months.
