Due to the high price of chickpeas in the international markets, the exporters still hold a solid position in coarse commodities. On the other hand, there are no stock in the country and big distributor markets. Given these circumstances, experts predict that Chickpeas will be sold at $0,06-0,12 per kg and will likely increase further.
The atmosphere of shortage
Due to the shortage of spot material in chickpeas, there has been a spurt of $0,04/0,06 per kg for 10-15 days. The sowing reports are good this time, but the country faces a deficit in chickpeas as there is no material in the pipeline. Thus, the atmosphere of shortage prevails until harvest.
As the atmosphere of cold prevails in the country, people are likely to consume more vegetables than grams for the next several months. Thus, the consumption of pulses will be less as vegetables are the most affordable in the winter season. However, the consumption of chickpeas is not entirely negligible. In that view, there is very little left in stock in various domestic shops of the country, which is why it has been in a bullish trend intermittently.
A massive shortage of chickpeas until the harvest
The chickpeas will be harvested after two and a half months in February or March, and thus, there will be a massive shortage of chickpeas until the harvest.
As there is a shortage of goods seen in the consuming markets of UP, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and also in the distributor markets, the hike in the chickpea chart is to be witnessed. Thus, there are predictions of chickpeas rising more than the current rates in the next two months.
The Chickpeas 42-44 (12mm) prices were Recorded at $1,74 per kg FOB.
