Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers sets conditions for automatic licensing of sunflower exports Following Bulgaria’s agreement to liberalise the licensing regime for sunflower exports, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an automatic licensing regime for sunflower exports to Bulgaria. From now on, obtaining a licence to export sunflowers to Bulgaria will not require approval and separate consultation with the country’s authorities.

Deputy Minister of Economy – Trade Representative of Ukraine T. Kachka believes that this step will facilitate exports and support sunflower prices in Ukraine, which are under pressure from increased offers from producers.

According to Spike Brokers, processors are reducing the pace of purchases as stocks build up, leading to increased queues at crushers. Bulgarian crushers are experiencing a shortage of raw material which threatens to shut them down, so they are waiting for the process of obtaining a licence to supply sunflower from Ukraine to be simplified. Sunflower oil prices in Bulgaria fell by $10/t during the week to $800-820/t.
