According to market experts from India, the coriander price is expected to increase by $0,26 – $0,28 per kg in July-August. The expected price increase would be due to small and medium companies will increase their purchase in the coming months.

Current Situation

May has witnessed a steady price decrease of coriander since the activity slowed down. Experts stated that spice companies fulfill 75 percent of the demand. On the other hand, wholesale and exports take up 25 percent of the order. Fifty percent of the spice companies are of great stature and have already bought the stock for the entire year. On the other hand, the other 50 percent of the companies are of mid and small level. Due to the high price of coriander, they continue to buy as required and have not stocked any.

These small and mid-level companies can currently purchase the commodity at a reasonable price with the increase in the arrival of the spice. But as the arrival decreases, which is likely to be in July-August, the price will increase as the supply will fail to meet the demand of the spice companies.

For the last month, the supply in the markets of Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh has been increasing continuously. It is reported to have received 500 thousand to 800 thousand sacks daily.

From 15th April to 15th June, the demand for all spices remains low due to heavy heat. Similarly, this year also, the need for spices was less. Due to this, the price of coriander, which increased earlier from $1,57 to $1,61per kg, came down to $1,26 to $1,28 per kg.

It’s reported that 80% of the crop arrived in Gujarat and Rajasthan markets. 70% of the crop in Madhya Pradesh has already come from the coriander market. However, arrivals have increased due to delayed sowing in Madhya Pradesh in the last ten days.

The daily arrival of coriander from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh was 35 thousand bags, which has increased to 40 to 45 thousand bags.

There will be expected to be more arrivals in Madhya Pradesh for 10 to 15 days, but the arrivals will start decreasing.

Still, 1,7 to 1,8 million sacks are yet to arrive in the coriander market from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. It must also be noted that nine months of the season are yet to be completed from the supply quantity mentioned above.

New coriander In countries like Russia, Ukraine, Syria, Bulgaria, Romania, and Morocco will start in July. Coriander is imported from these countries every year for 500 thousand sacks of resin, which will also happen in the current year. However, there is continuous depreciation of the rupee against the dollar. Hence there is no possibility of any significant import of coriander.

Prediction

Because of the overall situation of coriander in the market, the arrival will ultimately decrease in July-August while the demand will remain normal. Therefore, there will be a situation of a bit of shyness. As a result, the price of coriander is expected to increase again from $1,57 to $1,61 per kg in July-August.
