Market players reported that the Turkish lira depreciation accelerated after the expected interest rate cut of the Turkish Central Bank last Thursday. Also, the raw material prices are constantly increasing due to the lack of products in the markets. Exporters stated that they could not give offers due to the enormous fluctuations in the foreign Exchange rates and the increase of the raw material prices being at 65-70 TL/kg levels nowadays, which was only at 60 TL/kg levels last week.
Today the Usd/TL rate was noted at 17.57 TL (13.84 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 19.80 TL levels (15.64 last week), meaning a depreciation of 26%! Exports are continuing at high speed. Demands are also still increasing.
Turkey exported 1922 mt of dried figs and figs products, 1519 mt during the same week of last year. The total exports range at 28.296 mt, 28.784 mt in total in the same period the previous year.
