Kochi, one of the leading suppliers of ginger, is reported to have been receiving heavy rain. As a result, along with other major commodities, there was no arrival of ginger. Due to this, the wholesale price of ginger has gone up. It is expected to stay in the higher range in the coming days. In such a scenario, there is no fear of the dry ginger price moving down.

The Southwest Monsoon remained very active from the South to the Western parts of India in the last few days. Due to this, there were reports of heavy rainfall and flooding in many places. It includes the states of Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

The monsoon has become active in the capital Delhi as well. Due to this, the temperature has started decreasing. Even after this, the sale of dry ginger remains sluggish in the capital city.

On the other hand, there has never been enough pressure ever since the arrival of the new ties in Kochi, Kerala. In the region, buyers purchase directly from the farmers; thus, the price has remained lower than expected.

But the price of ginger has increased in the local wholesale fruit-vegetable market in Azadpur. Ginger is arriving in the city only from Bangalore. Here ginger recently gained $0,06 – $0,13 per and is currently at $0,51 – $0,70 per kg. However, due to the weak buying by the stockists, the dry ginger has fallen by $0,12 per kg and remains at $1,59 – $1,65 per kg.

It was reported that there was negligible arrival of dry ginger in Kochi. Despite the good pricing, the farmers are not keen to make dry ginger. Hence in the coming days, there won’t be a reduction in the price of the commodity.

The Ginger dried NUGC prices were Recorded at $1,98 per kg FOB.
