Indian Spices Exports Fall 8 to 9% during 2020-21

According to Spices Board India, exports of spices from India during April-Sep 21 dropped 8% to 780.273 tons compared to last year.

As per the numbers, cumin exports during the said period held at 139.295 tons, down by 14% compared to last year.

Spices Board data shows April-Sep turmeric exports at 77.245 tons, down by 26%. Whereas coriander exports at 24.459 tons, down with 13%

Mainly two spices Pepper and Cardamom recorded hike in exports. April-Sep pepper exports stood at 10,844 tons, up by 24% from last year’s and small cardamom exports at 4,240 tons, up 101% from last year.

As per the third advanced estimates by the farm department, spices output is expected to be high by 10.700.000 tonnes in 2020-21, up by 5.5% compared to 10.140.000 produced in 2019-20.
