The export rate of Iranian raisins has increased by about 20 per cent in March 2022 compared to February. However, it has decreased by about 52 per cent compared to March 2021. Last month, about 50 per cent of Iranian raisins for export were allocated to the Golden raisins.
According to Iran customs statistics, the export rate of Iranian raisins was 11,959 tons worth 16,098,000 USD (1.35 USD per kg) in March 2022. This month, the highest export rate of Iranian raisins was allocated to Golden raisins. 5,120 tons of Golden raisins worth 8,008,000 USD (1.56 USD per kg) were exported from Iran, equivalent to 50 percent of Iran’s total export value this month.
The export rate increased in March 2022 compared to February 2022. The export rate of raisins was 10,011 tons worth 13,243,000 USD (1.32 USD per kg) in February this year. The export of raisins has grown by 19.5 per cent in weight and by 21.5 per cent in terms of export value in March compared to the month before. The most important reason for the increase in exports and the price of this product in export markets in March compared to February is the rise in demand due to Ramadan.
Iranian raisin export has increased in March 2022 compared to February. However, the export rate of this crop declined compared to March last year. 24,881 tons of raisins worth 34,068,000 (1.37 USD per kg) were exported from Iran in March 2021. The export number of this product has reduced by about 52 per cent in March 2022 compared to March 2021. Summer drought caused production to decline, a lack of market inventory, and export reduction. Also, the decline in the quality of the product due to drought has led to the export demand reduction in March this year compared to the same period last year, which has caused a decrease in the export of Iranian raisins in March 2022 compared to March 2021.
Compared to last month, the cost of Iranian raisins for export has grown by 3 to 4.5 per cent because of rising domestic demand due to Ramadan.
