The average price of a bag of corn in Brazil was reported at 55.26 R$ or 10,12 € on April 30, marking a 2.92% decrease compared to 56.92 R$ or 10,42 € recorded at the end of March. Throughout April, the Brazilian corn market witnessed a decline in prices, attributed to speculation surrounding exchange rates and weather conditions, according to Safras Consultoria.
However, the return of rainfall to areas facing drought in the safrinha production regions helped increase supply or lower grain prices.
On the demand side, consumer interest in grains remains limited due to expectations of a favorable harvest season. Regarding exports, Brazil’s participation remains limited on the international market due to strong competition with other countries like Argentina. On the global stage, the outlook in Chicago continues to be negative throughout April due to positive expectations for both planting and initial development of corn crops in the United States.
According to Safras Consultoria, the trend for May suggests that prices will remain under pressure in the international market.
