This decision comes from the Emergency Situations Commission, aiming to uphold economically sustainable prices for domestic grain products within the country’s market.

Licensing Procedure Details

Under the extended regime, imports of wheat, corn, and sunflower seeds into Moldova will continue to require a license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. Both legal entities and individuals involved in the production of oil and fats, flour milling products, and feed products are eligible to apply for these licenses. Applications will be reviewed by a commission established by the Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova.

Background and Context

The licensing system for these crops was initially implemented in October 2023, responding to demands from Moldovan farmers to restrict imports from Ukraine, mirroring actions taken by neighboring Eastern European countries.

This extension reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to regulate the import market and maintain stability in the domestic agricultural sector.

By enforcing these measures, Moldova seeks to balance the interests of local producers while ensuring continued access to essential agricultural commodities.
