The 450 million Euro project should become the largest container hub for servicing Central and Eastern Europe. The new terminal will be 717 meters long and 17.5 meters deep. It will also provide 365,000 m² of additional operating space, which will serve the largest container ships in the world.
The construction of the project will take place in two stages. In the first stage, a consortium of Budimex and DEME companies will build a terminal area of 360,000 m². This will increase Baltic Hub’s throughput by 1.5 million TEU to 4.5 million TEU per year. The terminal will be opened for commercial operation after the completion of the first phase of construction in 2024.
In the second stage, the construction of a mooring wall with a length of 717 meters and a depth of 17.5 meters will begin. The Baltic Hub project is planned to be fully completed in the second quarter of 2025.
The terminal will house seven berthing cranes capable of servicing the world’s largest vessels, as well as 20 semi-automatic gantry rail cranes (RMG) for the container platform, which operators will be able to control remotely.
