The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry took action due to the SAT-2 type foot and mouth virus, which has been seen in different provinces of Turkey for about 2 months. Animal markets were closed in Denizli, Elazığ and Kars. Within the scope of the measures taken, all animal movements other than import, export and slaughter purposes were banned.
All permits canceled
Due to the virus, the permits of veterinarians, veterinary health technicians and technicians were also canceled until further notice.
In the statement made by Elazığ Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, “Animal markets are closed due to this type of foot and mouth disease seen in our country. The sale and movement of animals is prohibited until further notice. Otherwise, law enforcement officers will impose an administrative fine of 46 thousand 159 liras on those who do not comply with the measures of the Ministry in order to prevent the spread of diseases according to the relevant article of the 36a law.
In addition, in the message sent to farmers by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, it was stated that vaccine studies have started and it was emphasized that the virus detected is SAT-2, vaccine studies have been started by the private sector and the state and will be delivered to the field when the production is completed.
