Slow Oilseed Harvest in Canada

Spread the news!

The pace of the oilseeds harvesting campaign in Canada is still inferior to last year in most regions of the country.

As of September 27, the most significant backlog in the pace of fieldwork is observed in the province of Manitoba, where the canola harvesting campaign was carried out on only 30% of the planned area, while last year this figure was 97%.

In addition, in this region, the harvest of soybeans was completed by 5% of the plan against 55% last year, and flax – by only 2% (68% in 2021).

In Saskatchewan, fieldwork was more active, but also lagged behind last year’s pace. As of September 26, the canola harvest was completed on 66% of the planned acreage, up from 92% last year during the same period.
