ODESA: This season, Ukraine will harvest 10-15% more sunflower seeds than last year. This situation will help to increase the export potential of the sunflower oil and meal market.
At the same time, raw material prices are rising at the start of the season. This week the sunflower purchasing prices continued to grow and have reached the level of 18.700-18.800 UAH/T. Sunflower oil producers have to increase their purchasing prices to keep their capacities fully occupied.
Despite the expectations of a record sunflower harvest in Ukraine, there is a significant lag in harvesting. Almost 6 million tons of sunflower were threshed. In turn, farmers build different sales strategies aimed at “warming up” the market. Therefore, experts predict a rather unusual season.
