Bird flu cases have been seen in Türkiye which has been seen intensively in many countries of the world for the last 18 months and has caused the culling of more than 200 million poultry so far.
According to the information obtained, although no official statement has been made, bird flu cases have started to increase in Afyonkarahisar and Denizli.
It is learned that bird flu cases started to be seen in the Başmakçı district of Afyonkarahisar, which is the capital of Türkiye’s egg production, on 20 January and more than 5 million chickens were culled in the egg production facilities in Başmakçı district, which were quarantined.
The egg production facilities in the Honaz district of Denizli were also quarantined due to bird flu cases and it is stated that around 1.5 million egg-laying hens were culled in the district.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which notified the World Organisation for Animal Health, is trying to bring the outbreak under control.

Last week, Argentina and Uruguay declared a national health emergency following outbreaks of H5N1 avian influenza, while Argentina announced the suspension of poultry exports.
In Europe, bird flu cases were found in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria at the end of last year.
In Cambodia, an 11-year-old girl diagnosed with bird flu died.
