In January 2022, the export amount of Iranian raisins has dropped more than 55 per cent compared to the past year. Sultana raisins have had the highest number of exports among different types of Iranian raisins.
According to Iran’s customs, 8,267 tons of raisins worth 10,497,000 USD were exported from Iran in the first month of the new year (January 2022). The average price of Iran’s raisins was 1.27 USD per kilogram this month.
The rate of Iranian raisin exports has declined in January 2022 compared to the same period last year. In January 2021, 18,837 tons of raisins worth 24,811,000 USD were exported from Iran. The raisins exports in January 2022 have decreased by 56 per cent in terms of weight and by 58 per cent in terms of export value. Also, the export value of each kilogram of raisins has declined by 3.8 per cent and reached 1.27 USD from 1.32 USD.
The drop in production and the amount of available products in January 2022 resulted in a decline in exports compared to January last year. Many Iranian vineyards got damaged because of the frost in the first spring days and the summer drought in 2022. This issue reduced the amount of production. Also, the weather stresses and water scarcity reduced the quality of the available product in January this year. Compared to the previous year, reducing the product quality has decreased the demand and export of various Iranian raisins in January. The Sultana raisin has had the highest exports in January. This month, 5,353 tons (65 per cent) were related to the export of Sultana raisins. The export value of Sultana raisins was 5,887,000 USD. It was 56 per cent of the total export value of raisins in January.
The price of Iranian raisins for export has increased compared to last month. The most important reasons for raising the price of exported raisins compared to the previous month are a rise in export demand in the first week of the mentioned time and the decline in foreign exchange rates against the Rial last week. Compared to the previous month, the price of Sultana raisins has increased by about 3 per cent, the cost of Sun-Dried raisins for export has risen by about 3.5 per cent, the price of Golden raisin has grown by about 4 per cent, and the price of Green raisins for export has gone up by about 5 per cent.
