Turkey Applies Further Export Restrictions

A restriction was imposed on the export of red meat, which was on the agenda due to the price increase. In this context, it was decided to restrict the export of cattle, sheep and goat meat to all countries except the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Due to the letter dated March 21, 2022, with the title of “Periodic Regulations in Red Meat Exports”:

  • Restrictions were made to ensure supply security

With the Approval of the Ministry Authority dated 19.03.2022 and numbered 10724253-305.04.02.02-4916055, in order to ensure national meat supply security and to maintain the supply and demand balance; Except for the meat of cattle and sheep and goat meat to be exported to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, they are included in the Customs Tariff Statistics Position (GTI.P.) under the headings 0201, 0202 and 0204. It is stated that it is deemed appropriate to restrict the export of the meat of cattle and sheep and goat meat until a new instruction.

  • Those who have a veterinary health certificate will be exported.

The article also states that, until a new notification by Ministries, the export of bovine meat, sheep and goat meat under the titles of 0201, 0202 and 0204 under the headings of Customs Tariff Statistics (GTİP), Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Azerbaijan Republic and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Turkey, except for those who have been issued a veterinary health certificate on or before 19.03.2022, it is requested not to be allowed to leave our country as of 19.03.2022.
