Besides the massive forest fires from South to West causing troubled days in Turkey nowadays, extremely hot temperatures are also another big problem. And these extremely hot temperatures seem not to be over yet.
Province Manisa has entered a sweltering week again with over 43° C over the day and around 30° C at night. The Crop Estimation studies for Sultana raisins are finished. Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli will come to Manisa in the coming days and announce the estimated raisin harvest for 2021 and the grape base price. Farmers expect a base price of at least 14.50 TL/kg for type nr 9 dried raisins which was 12.50 TL/kg last Season. According to the crop estimation studies, market players informed that the crop is expected to be the same as last year (i.e., 270.000 mt).
The exports of Sultana seedless grapes are permitted to start on the 6th of August. Manisa expects again the same export figures of Sultana table grapes as last year, which was approximately 200.000 mt.
The harvest of dried Sultana raisins will start on the 20th of August…TMO has meanwhile closed the sales of dried raisins of the crop 2020 as of last Friday. Export prices are still offered 1.600-1.650 Usd/mt on a FOB basis for type nr.9, crop 2021. Turkish Lira appreciated this week against the foreign currencies being 8.35TL ( 8.54 last week) for USD/TL rate and 9.92 TL ( 10.10 TL Last week) for Euro/TL rate. Turkey exported last week’s 4.136 mt of sultana raisins, which was 4.345 mt during the same week of the previous season, so the total exports until the 31st of July 2021 noted 203 679 mt 231.863 mt last year during the same period.
