Spread the news!

President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to arrive in Manisa on Saturday, August 20. At this visit Erdogan will announce the base price of seedless raisins, the most important agricultural product of the city, in the Manisa program.

The first export truck of fresh grapes set off

While the manufacturers are waiting for the raisins price to be announced, Sultaniye seedless grapes were allowed to be exported on 8 August 2022, and the first truck set off from Alaşehir Customs Directorate.

Speaking at the ceremony held in the garden of Alaşehir Commodity Exchange for the farewell of the first export truck, Manisa Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Metin Öztürk said, “As of August 8 today, we started exporting Manisa seedless Sultaniye fresh grapes. Sultaniye seedless grapes are an important strategic product for our country. Sultaniye seedless grapes are also an important export product as dried. We are in a city that produces 85% of seedless raisins and 20% of table grapes in Turkey. We provide export income from a grape exceeding 600 million dollars.  Although the export figures change from year to year, today is an important day for us.”

Raisins did not leave the leadership in exports among dried fruits

Seedless raisins became the export leader among dried fruits this season.  Turkey, which exported 203 thousand tons of 393 million dollars of raisins between September 1, 2020 and July 31, 2021, exported 232 thousand tons of raisins in the same period in the 2021-22 season and recorded 408 million dollars.

While England maintained its top position with Turkish grape demand of 102.6 million dollars, seedless raisins of 58.2 million dollars were exported to Germany.  The Netherlands entered the list in third place with 38 million dollars, while seedless raisins were sent to Italy for 32 million dollars and to Australia for 27.5 million dollars.  The number of countries to which Turkey exported seedless raisins was recorded as 101.

Value of the Dollar and Euro remained almost the same as last week against the Turkish Lira. The Usd/TL rate at 17,96 TL (17,94 last week) and Euro/TL rate is at 18,32 TL levels (18,43 last week).

Currently, in the stagnant market due to waiting for new crops exporters are offering the same as last week for the 2021 crop at 1.400-1.450 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for type nr.8 and 1.500-1.550 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for type nr.9.
