ODESA: Certified elevator capacities in Ukraine amount to about 45-50 million tons. Against the background of a harvest of 100 million tons, the deficit of elevators is over 50%. Most farmers have to stock their crops in self-made warehouses, which are not adapted for winter. It leads to grain quality and moisture problems.
Furthermore, 65-70% of Ukrainian elevators are obsolete. The enterprises left over from the Soviet past do not meet modern requirements for grain storage, the efficiency of acceptance and shipment, etc.
The trend of the last five years shows that the increase in modern elevator capacity is about 1.5 million tons per year. Therefore, this 50% deficit will be covered for a long time. And in the next 3-5 years, the trend of increasing capacity for grain storage will continue.
