ODESA: Since the beginning of the season, oat has been among the cheapest Ukrainian grains with stable prices. During the last three months, oat price in Ukraine increased on average by 20-25 $/t, and at the moment purchasing is done at the level of 210-220 $/to.
The main reason for such stability is the lack of significant export demand. Rainy weather in summer made Ukrainian oat dark in colour, which hurt export. But these factors are compensated by the development of local manufacturing. A significant increase in oat flakes production took place in Ukraine over the past four years.
In 2017 Ukraine produced around 6.3 thousand tons of oat groats. In 2020 it already increased to 25 thousand tons. At the same time, the issue of providing Ukrainian cereal enterprises with oats in the required volumes remains open. They have to compete with feed producers for raw materials constantly.
Oat flakes are actively offered for export. FCA prices for ready groats in standard 25kg bags vary from 500 $/t to 520$/to.
