ODESA: This week, purchase prices for Ukrainian corn in major ports reached 254-250 $ / t. Growth over the past few days averaged  5 $ / t.

As noted, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported that farmers harvested 1.1 million tons of corn from 227 thousand hectares. This is 4% of the planned harvest of 5.5 million hectares (the advance was 2% per week). The yield was 4.86 t / ha against 4.8 t / ha last week. As of the same date the previous year, 9% was harvested with an average yield of 4.5 tons/ha.

The rise in prices is explained by farmers’ concentration on fieldwork and are in no hurry to sell the collected volumes. Traders are obliged to fulfil already signed contracts and are forced to raise the price to collect the required books.
