Ukrainian exports to the EU in 2022 increased by 4.2%

According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the export of domestic goods to the EU countries in 2022 increased by 4.2% compared to the previous year and amounted to about $28 billion.

Recovery Plan for Ukraine

The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko announced that diversification of logistics routes is one of the tasks for the future. Ukraine will expand land transport corridors and exports to the EU. It will help Ukraine to be less dependent on maritime exports even after unlocking and the return of all ports. And, of course, this is important for further economic integration to the EU markets, the involvement of Ukraine in European value chains.

As indicated, the growth of exports to the EU became possible, in particular, thanks to EU support of the Ukrainian economy in general and exports in particular. These are tax liberalization, deregulation, support for producers, export insurance with the help of ECA tools. This is the opening of European markets for Ukrainian goods,  the EU initiative “Ways of Solidarity”, “customs visa-free”, “transport visa-free”, etc.

Total export of Ukrainian grain in 2022/23 MY came close to 24 million tons

According to the latest data of the State Customs Service,  since the beginning of MY 2022/23, Ukraine exported 23.963 million tons of grains, of which 1.217 million tons in January.

At the same time, it is noted that for the same period of the previous season, the indicated figure were 33.701 million tons, of which 1.228 million tons were shipped in January.

In terms of crops, since the beginning of the current season, the following has been exported:

– wheat – 8.712 million tons (in 2021/22 MY – 16.153 million tons);
– barley – 1.663 million tons (5.29 million tons);
– rye – 12.5 thousand tons (143.5 thousand tons);
– corn – 13.502 million tons (11.871 million tons).
