Work is currently underway to extend the “grain agreement”, in particular, a proposal has been received from the UN on the Turkish bank to play a role as a mediator. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, stated this on the air of the NTV channel.
“On the agenda is the re-inclusion of Rosselkhozbank in the SWIFT system. But, even if this bank is included in SWIFT, we see that Western companies are not very eager to work with it. That is why the UN Secretary-General suggested that one of the Turkish banks be the mediator,” the minister said.
Speaking about the possibility of extending the “grain agreement” after May 18, M. Çavuşoğlu noted that serious work is being done in this direction, but “there are no guarantees” yet.
