The law banning GM animal feed came into force in Poland on January 1, 2023 according to the report of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA).

As noted, according to the law, from January 1, 2025, a ban on the production, sale and use of genetically modified feed and genetically modified organisms intended for use in feed will come into force.

“Due to the fact that genetically modified products are traded on the world market at a significant discount (20% or more), and during the cultivation of such products it is not possible to separate storage and transportation separately from non-GM products — the losses will be borne by both those who grow GMOs and those who grow traditional products — due to the fact that traditional products will be mixed with GMOs, and at the exit, all grain will be labeled as GMOs. Ukraine will lose its reputation as a manufacturer of non-GM products, which are much more expensive on the world market,” the association explained.

It is noted that taking into account the current pessimistic plans of farmers regarding the prospects of crop production next year, the situation with animal feeding in the middle of next year is rather unpredictable.
