Why Indian Cumin’s Price Will Go Down in Future?

Spread the news!

The demand for cumin seeds is low as of now, and the arrival in Gujarat’s markets is very thin.

Markets in Rajasthan are expected to receive an increased supply of cumin seeds, but after or within a fortnight’s time. The farmers are unwilling to sell their stocks, and neither do stockists wish to part with their old goods.

Witnessing the current market trend, cumin buyout is the best option as of now. Buyers may be active in buying in the current trend as the harvest is low and the prices are strong.

As per reports, there has been an increase in the arrival of cumin in the market this week, but the latest arrival level is still shallow compared to the previous year’s period. Apart from this, local stockists have also started to buy. Due to this, there is a hope of a slight increase in cumin seeds. However, cumin seeds improved marginally by $0,01 to $2,69/$2,70 per kg on light buying by stockists at the local wholesale grocery markets. Before that, there was a slight slowdown. Traders say that there has been a slight improvement in the arrival of cumin in Unjha, but this improved arrival is also below average. So because of this, the market sentiment is getting affected.

According to few sources, there has been an increase in the arrival of cumin in markets since the first trading day of the current week. At the time of writing these lines, about 22-23 thousand sacks of cumin were reported to have arrived in Ujha Mandi. Most of the arrivals are from new crop goods. Now the arrival of cumin seeds of the old crop is negligible. This is the reason why the wholesale price of cumin seeds has remained relatively high in Unjha Mandi for some time now. After a recent decline of $2,63-3,94 per kg in Unjha, cumin seeds rose by $0,33 -0,39 per kg today due to increased buying.

Traders say that the local stockists have started buying in anticipation of the arrivals becoming comparatively low, and the buying will increase in the coming days. If the stockists’ buying support remains in the coming days, the price of the cumin can rise. At the same time, it is considered that this boom will prove to be temporary.

The workers are on holidays since last week due to Holi Festival and they will return to work by the end of March month or early April. The pressure of arrival of cumin seeds in the market will be made only in the last days of March or early April. Many traders consider that only after 10-15 days when arrivals will increase one can expect a consistent slowdown in its wholesale price. According to reports, cumin seeds prices will slow down after sufficient arrival, but the wholesale price of cumin seeds in Unjha Market will not go below $2,30 per kg.

The main reason for this is that the production of cumin in the country is expected to decline by about one-third during the current season. Apart from this, farmers also see a strong expectation of getting an attractive price for the crop this season. Looking at this scenario, the farmers will not be in any hurry to sell their produce of cumin seeds.
