The decrease in demand and the decrease in the available product are the most important factors for the decrease in the export of this Iranian product in 2022 compared to 2021.

The export amount of almonds and almond nuts produced in Iran in 2022 was equal to 2,287 tons worth 18,093,965 dollars equivalent to 7.91 dollars per kilogram. About 86 percent by weight of the export of almonds and almond kernels in 2022 was related to almond kernels, and during this period, 1,965 tons of Iranian almond kernels were exported to the target countries.

The export amount of almonds and almond kernels in 2022 in Iran compared to 2021 has been accompanied by a significant decrease. In 2021, 3,751 tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 32,716,697 dollars (equivalent to 8.72 dollars per kilogram) were exported from Iran. The amount of export of almonds and almond nuts in 2022 has decreased by 39 percent in terms of weight and 44.7 percent in terms of export value compared to 2021. The reason for the greater decrease in the export value compared to the weight is the decrease in the average price of each kilogram of almonds and almond kernels exported by Iran in 2022 compared to 2021. The average price of each kilogram of almonds and almond kernels exported by Iran in 2022 has decreased by 9.3 percent compared to 2021.

The most important reasons for the decrease

The most important reasons for the decrease in the amount of exports, as well as the decrease in the export price of almonds and almond kernels in 2022 compared to 2021, are the decrease in demand for this product and the decrease in the amount of the product. Due to the decrease in the amount of available product in 2022 compared to 2021, which was due to the decrease in production due to drought, the amount of export of this product in 2022 decreased compared to 2021.

Also, the decrease in the quality of the product due to the drought in 2022 also caused the export demand for almonds and almond kernels produced in Iran to decrease, as well as the export price of this product. The occurrence of anti-government protests in Iran in the last 3 months of 2022 also caused a decrease in demand and an increase in the parity rate of foreign currencies against the Rial, which also caused a decrease in the amount of exports and a decrease in the export price of this product.
