President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with the government, instructed to work out the feasibility of expanding sunflower crops in the southern regions of the country. This is reported by the agency BELTA.

“What is the difference between your climate and Ukraine? Well, let’s try. I will try it on my experimental field. I have already ordered: lupins, peas, soybeans, sunflowers, rapeseed and so on. Let’s see what we can do to the north. We must move in this direction. Maybe we should try to cultivate these crops in addition to corn. But it is necessary not just to sell seeds on the market, but to squeeze out sunflower oil, ” Lukashenka said.

The President also called for a reorientation of exports amid the loss of revenue from the supply of products abroad in the period from January to May of this year.

“We should strive to intensify cooperation with the so-called unfriendly countries. Nothing needs to be discarded. We need to have a dialogue with all countries. Sanctions will go away sooner or later. And these wild relations that we have with the West will also go into oblivion. These markets must not be lost. For then we will heroically return to them,” explains Lukashenka.
