Ukraine sold about 295 thousand tons of sunflower meal on foreign markets in January this year, which is the lowest monthly figure since the beginning of season 2022/23, according to “APK-Inform”. Specifically, the product’s export figures were down 35% by December 2022 and 53% by January 2022.
“According to the results of five months of 2022/23 MY shipments of sunflower meal from Ukraine decreased by 16% compared to the indicator of the same period of the previous season (September-January 2021/22 MY),” – the report says.
As noted in the materials, the main importer of Ukrainian product remains China – the Celestial Empire accounts for more than half of the supply (53%) of the total. In second place are the EU countries (share 39%), which increased the purchase of this product from Ukraine in the current season is almost 2 times.
“It should also be noted that during the same period, the bloc countries increased the import of Argentine sunflower meal by 19%, as a result of which the South American country has become the second largest supplier of this product in the region,” – summarized the experts.
