Dalian: According to feedback from market participants, the sunflower seed kernel export market is stable. Domestic market demand increased at the end of the year, and prices rose slightly. The entry of low-priced sunflower seeds from Ukraine, Russia, and Bulgaria into the Chinese market has impacted domestic market prices. Many European and American customers have begun to import European sunflower seeds. China’s sunflower kernels are not competitive, and the price remains high.

Major food factories, wholesale markets and retailers have successively purchased large quantities of sunflower seed kernels, leading to a slight increase in the price of sunflower seed kernels. In terms of exports, although sunflower seed kernels are better than pumpkin seed kernels, exports are stable. However, orders from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe fell, and orders from the US market fell yearly. Traders predict that the price of sunflower seed raw materials will not fall before the Spring Festival.

This week, the FOB Dalian or Tianjin price of confectionary-grade sunflower seed kernels is US$1680-1730/ton, and the FOB Tianjin or Dalian price of baking-grade sunflower seed kernels is US$1630-1680/ton.
